Salut friends!
If any of you know me the slightest, you know that I am obsessed with Paris, to the point where I feel as if it has taken over my entire life. I've wanted to go ever since I was eight, and was in love with anything high fashion, Chanel or Vogue. I assumed it was just a phase, but my infatuation grew stronger as I got older. I can guarantee you that every person in my grade sees an Eiffel Tower and thinks of me. When I was fourteen, I started a savings account entirely dedicated to Paris. I saved every penny I got, and was over halfway to my goal, but then my Global Education program at school announced their 2017 China trip. The same year I've been planning to go to Paris for years.
You see, I did NOT want to go to China. I went to the information meeting on a whim, just planning to see a few friends and maybe just find out where exactly they would be visiting. Just for fun. But as soon as I saw the photos of where they were going, and the insanely low price, I kind of fell in love.
Then three of my best friends signed up.
After I talked to one of them (who has been to Europe a number of times), and heard her reasoning for why I should go to China, I knew I had to go. How many times would I have the chance to go to CHINA, with some of my close friends, in a group that I trust??! Never.
I've been thinking of the quote "We'll always have Paris!" an insane amount over the past week. Do you know how heartbreaking it has been to change "EF Paris '17" to "EF Paris '18" on all my social media bios?! But I will literally always have Paris. Both of my top colleges offer study abroad in Paris (and what university doesn't?!) and EF Language Centers offers students to start classes in Paris every Monday. I could literally leave today if I wanted. Do you know how many times I'm going to go to Paris in my life? Why is 45000 times any different that 44999?
I leave June of 2017 for China, and I'll be visiting Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, and Nanking. It's weird. The fact that I'll go to CHINA before I ever set foot in Europe. It's fascinating, intriguing, and exotic. I love it.
