Hello lovelies! I'm sorry this is my first post in about ten thousand years. I've been busy traveling (travel log coming soon!), hanging out with friends, taking pictures (results from yesterdays shoot to come!) and, of course, reading!
I always love book recommendations, so I thought why not create some myself? I would love to help someone find their future favourite book! Click on the title and it links to the Goodreads page on it (because I am not good at explaining book plots. At all.).
Category 1: Fantasy/Sci-fi
I am not typically one to travel down the sci-fi and fantasy section. I just don't. I'm not into fantasy reads nor do I find them interesting enough to read (just my opinion, not at all offending if you're a fantasy/sci-fi fan!) but I have found a couple good ones. Middle school was my fantasy and sci-fi phase and I found a couple of good ones in my readings.

Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
The most obvious answer! I am a huge Potterhead. Like I mentioned above, I'm not one to typically like fantasy books or books that involve magic and whatnot. I like books that have realistic plots. However, I am in love with this series, even though I finished reading it in seventh grade. It's the most self explanatory recommendation. Even if you've already watched the movies, PLEASE read the books too! Some of the movies missed so much.

Across The Universe trilogy by Beth Revis
Another book I picked up in my middle school days. However, this sci-fi novel is spectacular. It involves romance, spaceships, technology, a futuristic world, everything that fits with the perfect sci-fi book. I fell in love with the characters and found myself reading parts of it over and over again. If you're into futuristic books, books that involve tech-y things, romance, space, honestly you'll love this book. Plus, Beth Revis is a genius.

Overpowered and Overtaken by Mark H. Kruger
I don't know whether these books would be classified in fantasy, sci-fi, or romance but I picked it up in the fantasy/sci-fi shelves at BN and I loooooooove this book so much and I might even like it more than Jane Eyre (okay, sorry Jane, I think I do). I love the plot, I love the plot twists, I love the entire aspect of the story, and I loooove Nica Ashley. It involves genitically modified kids who have superpowers, and it may sound dumb or cheesy (I would think so If someone told me) but it is honestly amazing, and I am hoping so hard for a third book (Pleeeease, Mr. Kruger?)
Category 2: Romance

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
There has been so much hype about this book and about Rainbow Rowell and I know why! This book is so great and has so many twists and turns and a huge roller-coaster of emotions. Cath is such a lovable character and there are so many times you'll laugh and cry with her. It also made me want to go to college so bad!

Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella
This is by the same author who wrote the well-known and loved Confessions Of A Shopaholic series. I never read those books, but I knew she must be a brilliant writer because those were such loved and hyped-about books. My friend bought me this for my birthday and I was so glad she did! It's such a lovely book. It really opens your mind to mental illness as well, and can help you put yourself in the shoes of someone with severe anxiety. I never thought about how hard some things are for people, stuff that us "regular" people do every day. It also involves romance, which always makes things interesting! I literally read it in one night. It was that good.

The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater
To be clear, I have only read the first one, so I don't know about the others yet. This isn't JUST a romance novel. It involves FOUR boys, a psychics daughter, a missing Welsh king, and so much more. It was so interesting and honestly wasn't like any novel I've read. It's not cliché or predictable. It has so much depth and it's just so ingenious. I didn't know if I was going to like it when I bought it, but I am so glad I did!
Category 3: Realistic Fiction

It's Kind Of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini
This book had so many emotions! I loved the character, and you feel like you're on a long journey with him. He's in a place in life he doesn't want to be in, and he marches into a hospital and tells the nurses what he's thinking. He ends up in a hospital with so many different types of people who help him through his journey. It involves strong topics, but like I mentioned above, helps you put yourself in the shoes of another who's suffering. It's a great read, honestly.

The Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin
I haven't read the third yet, so please no spoilers! But the first two were great. Mara is in an accident but can't remember exactly what happened. Weird stuff starts happening and you guessed it: there's a tad bit of romance involved. :)

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
This belongs in historical fiction, but we'll just place it in realistic for now. I loved this book. Heck, I think it's my favourite book ever. It involves WWII, a French girl, a German boy in the Hitler youth, and there are two separate stories that impact one another. It is such an intelligent novel and I can't even find the words to describe it, just do yourself a favour and read it!
Category 4; Travel Romance
Okay, I'm not sure if this even exists in the book world or if I just made it up but it is my favourite category EVERRR next to historical fiction!! Here are a few of my favourites that involve traveling and romance.

The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight, This Is What Happy Looks Like, and The Geography Of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith
Jennifer E. Smith is honestly a genius for making such unique love stories. This Is What Happy Looks Like doesn't involve travel, but I had to include it here because it was so amazing! The Statistical Probability Of Love At First Sight is about a boy and a girl who meet on a plane to London, and The Geography of You And Me is about a girl and a boy who meet in an elevator in a power outage but can't stop thinking about each other when they part ways.

Just One Day and Just One Year by Gayle Forman
My ALL TIME FAVOURITE TRAVEL ROMANCE!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't stop reading both of these books. I think this is the only series I made a special trip to the bookstore to buy the second book right when I finished reading the first. SO GOOD! You think one thing, but then your thought is completely turned around. Then the second novel comes out. WHAT?! It's so good I can't even type. PLEASE read it if you're into travel or romance or whatever,
Well, I hope I helped you find a book you might want to read, or recommend to a friend! Let me know if you do! I hope to make more posts like this, also featuring some of my bookstagram photos (self-promotion much?) What are some of your favourite books?
